Compact
#05Everything on one or two lines. Barely there in a long thread.
Email signature · Developers
Developers live in long threads, issue trackers and notification emails. Your signature should stay out of the way, while still telling people where your work is and when you're online.
Hi all,
Found it: the staging database was missing an index on orders.created_at. Fixed and deployed. Response times are back under 200 ms.
Kind regards,
Why it matters
A tall signature repeated under every reply turns a thread into endless scrolling. A compact one- or two-line signature keeps the conversation readable.
If you work with people in other timezones, your timezone and working hours prevent a lot of 'are you around?' messages.
For many developers that's GitHub, GitLab or a personal site. More useful to a recruiter or client than any job title.

Developers · FAQ
For internal mail a short one is plenty. For clients, recruiters and open-source contacts, a two-line signature with your GitHub saves people from guessing who you are.
When an email is sent as plain text, the signature shows as text only: no colours, no images. A text-first signature still reads fine; an image-only one disappears.
Usually not. It goes out of date and nobody reads it. Your GitHub or site shows what you work with far better.
