Homepage copy – first draft

Hi Lars,

Here's the first draft of the homepage copy. I've written two versions of the headline; tell me which one sounds more like you.

Kind regards,

Why it matters

What your signature needs to do

  1. 01

Every email can bring in work

Clients forward your emails to colleagues. If your signature says what you do and links to your work, that forward can turn into your next project.

  2. 02

    Availability saves awkward emails

A short 'Booking projects from March' line answers the first question new clients have, without you having to say no.

  3. 03

Look like a business, not a hobby

Your business name, website and registration details make you look established, and save you a 'can you send your details for our admin?' email.

Include

What to include

  • What you do, in plain words (e.g. 'Freelance copywriter')
  • Website or portfolio link
  • Your availability, if you're often booked up
  • Business registration and VAT number, if clients need them for invoicing
  • LinkedIn, or the one platform where your work lives

Leave out

What to leave out

  • Your home address: a city is enough
  • Your personal social accounts
  • A title like 'CEO' of a one-person business
  • Personal tax or ID numbers: only share the numbers meant to be public

What you do on the left, how to reach you on the right, plus a line for your availability.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my business registration number in my email?

Rules differ per country, and we can't give legal advice. In the Netherlands it's common practice for businesses to include their KvK number in emails, and many freelancers add their VAT ID too. Check with your local chamber of commerce if you're unsure.

Should I put my home address in my signature?

No need. A city or region tells clients where you're based. If you work from home, keep your street address for invoices and contracts.

Photo or no photo?

As a freelancer, clients hire you, not a brand, so a photo usually helps. It makes a first email from a stranger feel like it comes from a person.
